“Babylon” name says everything! Babylon is the Greek from of Babel or Babill. That’s mean “The gate of the God”
Babylon is my dream starting my childhood. Still it is very interesting think for me. When I alone that time I think about this city. How there it was made and what was the technology used for this. Babylon was a city-state of ancient Mesopotamia. The remains of which can be found in present-day Al Hillah, Babli Province,Iraq, About 96 kilometers (60 mi) south of Baghdad. It was the "holy city" of Babylonia by approximately 2300 BC, and the seat of the Neo-Babylonian Empire from 612 BC. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
The first Babylonian dynasty was established by Sumu-abum, but the city-state controlled little surrounding territory until it became the capital of Hammurabi Empire (ca. 18th century BC).
Persia captures Babylon: In 539 BC, the Neo-Babylonian Empire fell to Cyrus the great, king of Persia, with an ump Hellenistic period. In 331 BC, Darius III was defeated by the forces of the Macedonian ruler Alexander the great at the battle of gauqamela, and in October, Babylon fell to the young conqueror. In 1985, Saddam Hosain started rebuilding the city on top of the old ruins (because of this, artifacts and other finds may well be under the city by now), investing in both restoration and new construction.
